A combination of BAL rated engineered timber, rammed earth, timber framing and a cliff top setting resulting in a beautiful architectural outcome.

We worked with geotechnical specialists to investigate the underlying karst limestone and adjust the position of the property on the plot so as to manage geotechnical risks and achieve a workable foundation design.

A rammed earth solution was developed that could accommodate the 4m high external walls, as the property faces west to the ocean and is at the top of an escarpment it experiences particularly high wind loads.
